International. Stahl has opened a Center of Excellence for high-performance coatings in Suzhou, China. The environmentally friendly center will focus on performance coating solutions for a wide variety of materials. Customers, OEMs, brands and other partners gathered for the opening event.
With the continuous incorporation of new Centers of Excellence around the world, Stahl wants to strengthen its position in technology. The new facility in Suzhou brings to nine the number of Centers of Excellence that the company has around the world. At each center, the company's experts work closely with partners to meet the growing demand for products and solutions that have less impact on the environment. The addition of the Suzhou Center of Excellence puts Stahl in an even stronger position to combine its strengths with those of its local partners to create high-quality solutions for the automotive, apparel and accessories and interior industries.
The new Center of Excellence has been equipped with solar panels that provide some of the electricity consumed by the laboratory. A solar lighting and motion detection system has been implemented to save electricity. Green plants on the roof allow temperature control during the hot season and investment in a high-efficiency air filter system ensures clean air emission. In addition, the choice of low VOC boards for partitions and recurring building materials contribute to the sustainability of the Center.
Hagen Chen, Managing Director of China at Stahl, said: "China occupies an important position in the world as an engine of more sustainable development. We strive to create coating solutions with the least possible impact in terms of people's health and the environment. In recent years, our high-performance coatings business has grown tremendously in China, especially in the automotive industry. Application requests for seating and moldings, elastomer coatings and flocking adhesives are increasing daily. In addition to the automotive industry, the new facility anticipates the growing demand in China for film and paper packaging, synthetic materials, coated fabrics, textiles and special applications such as medical and support gloves."
