International. Sun Chemical announced the appointment of Myron Petruch as its President and Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2019.
Petruch assumes leadership of Sun Chemical after serving as president of Sun Chemical Performance Pigments and general manager of the pigment products division since 2008. He succeeds Rudi Lenz, who will move to the new position of vice chairman of Sun Chemical's board of directors. In this role, Lenz will advise the firm on key strategies and issues as they arise.
The Performance Pigments division has had eight consecutive years of record sales under Petruch's leadership. In addition, it has secured eight global acquisitions that have proven to be strong additions to the division, including Cathay Industries' high-purity iron oxides business in 2018, Kingfisher Colors in 2015 and Benda-Lutz in 2012.
"Myron's track record and track record of success make him the outstanding individual for this very important position at Sun Chemical," said Masayuki Saito, Chairman of the Board of Sun Chemical. "On behalf of DIC and Sun Chemical, we thank Rudi for his accomplishments and excellent work as President and Chief Executive Officer, and wish Myron every success in Sun Chemical's future leader."
In 2017, Petruch was named CEO of DIC Corporation, the parent company of Sun Chemical. Previously, he has been recognized with the "Man of the Year" award given by the Printing Inks Association of Metro New York and the Coatings Industry Award given by the Coatings Association of America in 2014.
Petruch earned a master's degree in business administration from Seton Hall University and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He began his career at Engelhard in 1986 and held various positions including sales manager, product manager, director of sales and marketing, and general manager before joining Sun Chemical.
