International. The electric cars will be manufactured using state-of-the-art technology at chongqing Sokon Industrial Group's new plant within the next few weeks. It will be the first time that the extremely mobile seven-axis EcoRP E043i robot of Dürr's new generation of robots will be used in China.
It can paint bodies of different dimensions of all-electric SUVs flexibly and without the previously necessary displacement rail. The complete paint line, with Dürr as the general supplier, also includes an Ecopure air purification system with heat recovery. Thus, the new plant will also be a reference in terms of air pollution control.
It will be the first time a third-generation robot from Dürr will be used by a Chinese automaker. The EcoRP E043i has seven axes of rotation, making it much more mobile than previous painting robots with six axes. The additional gasket expands the working area of the robot. As a result, it reaches even hard-to-reach areas with ease when painting the inside of the bodies. Until now, painting robots often moved on horizontal rails. The EcoRP E043i needs no more of the rails thanks to the high mobility of its seven-axis kinematics. This considerably reduces the investment and maintenance costs in the paint booth and allows a better view of the booths.
In total, sixty state-of-the-art Ecopaint robots are being used in the first, finishing and varnish lines for interior and exterior painting at Sokon. 36 EcoRP E043i paint robots, 16 SCARA door openers and six-axis models as bonnet openers are also being shipped to China. In addition, Dürr is supplying the robots and application technology for the sealing stations. Gasket sealing and insulation materials will be applied to the bodies by 20 EcoRSi series robots.
The third generation of Dürr robots has a modular structure. This means that the EcoRP E/L033i and EcoRP E/L133i models with six-axis kinematics can be used for both painting and hood opening. The modular concept was applied in the six- and seven-axis kinematics. The only difference between the variants is the additional axis of rotation on the main arm. The other universally identical components simplify spare parts management, save storage costs and facilitate maintenance. The control technology of robots for the application of ink and high viscosity material is also universal. The modular design of the control panels allows the ideal configuration for your application process of a painting or sealing station of the customer.
