International. Dow recently announced investments to expand its glycol ether production capacity. The initiative aims to meet the growing global demand in important sectors.
After all is finished, the company will have virtually doubled its current capacity of those product lines. Planning includes increasing the volume of the performance and p-series glycol ether product lines, including Dowanol glycol ethers, through a series of efforts aimed at removing bottlenecks and expansion projects in major regions. Gradual investments are foreseen that will extend for several years and increase in production until the end of 2019.
According to Dow, the demand for glycol ethers has been continuously increasing as a result of urbanization and the growth of the middle class. Knowing that regulations are still constantly evolving and the challenges are getting bigger when it comes to sustainability issues. Glycol ethers are used in various uses to improve the performance of final products and reduce their impact on health and the environment.
"Our decision to expand the production capacity of glycol ethers reflects our long-term commitment to these product lines and the sectors that use them. These developments will continue to position Dow as the most reliable and customer-focused company among global suppliers," said Ester Baiget, president of Dow Industrial Solutions.
