Colombia. Ferro Corporation announced that it is expanding its production plant located north of the city of Medellín, (Girardota), to meet the growing global demand for its Ultramarine Blue and Micronized iron oxide pigments.
"As a global leader in inorganic and organic pigments, including complex inorganic color pigments, Ferro is committed to meeting the growing demand for our products and enabling our customers' success through innovative, high-quality products, reliable supply, and superior technical support and service," said Matthias P. Bell, vice president, Americas and Color Solutions.
"We plan to produce significantly higher volumes of our Ultramarine Blue and Micronized Iron Oxides by early 2019 through this expansion project in Colombia. We will incorporate state-of-the-art technologies to ensure superior product quality, as well as manufacturing efficiency, environmental protection and safety. This investment continues the strategy we announced a year ago to expand our global capacity in high-performance overseas as we continue to meet the needs of our customers anywhere in the world."
Ferro is a producer of Ultramares Azul, Violeta and Rosa. In addition to Girardota, it produces these pigments in Llodio, Spain, Doicesti, Romania and Chennai, India. Ferro micronized iron oxides, which are mainly used in specialized applications of plastics and coatings, are produced in Girardota.
