International. AkzoNobel reported that it has become the recommended supplier of automotive refinishes for Mercedes-Benz China.
The agreement, which follows extensive analysis and testing on AkzoNobel's products and business processes, means the company has become a certified vehicle refinish supplier to more than 50 automotive companies in China over the past 20 years.
"Becoming the recommended supplier of automotive refinishes for Mercedes-Benz China shows great recognition for our products, color expertise, digital tools and services," said Keith Malik, Key Account Manager for AkzoNobel's automotive and refinish business.
"China's automotive aftermarket is flourishing, and both machine shops and car owners expect faster and better services at more competitive prices. The partnership with Mercedes-Benz will allow us to set higher standards for automotive after-sales services and deliver the best service experience."
This is not the first time AkzoNobel has supplied products and services to Mercedes-Benz. In 2014, the company signed a framework agreement with Daimler AG for automotive refinishing. This involved becoming one of the certified suppliers of its global distributors and workshops, which also covered Mercedes-Benz's passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as its Smart brand.
In addition to supplying its Sikkens brand, AkzoNobel provides the automaker with a wide range of digital solutions. This includes the Automatchic Vision handheld spectrophotometer. The accurate color matching device helps auto repair stores increase operational performance and significantly reduce wait times for car owners.
The agreement also includes the supply of an intelligent system that helps increase the efficiency and quality of repair shop management. This is achieved by intuitive and accurate tracking and management of the entire refinishing process through a single interface. Another innovation, known as E-zyrefinish, provides comprehensive services including data analysis, order processing, warehouse management, and transportation, reducing costs while increasing productivity.
