Colombia. Andercol confirmed that the new gelcoats plant, inaugurated last February in Cartagena, increases by more than twice the current production capacity of gelcoats, contributing to the consolidation of Andercol as an important player of this specialty in the region.
Through a statement, the company explained that this new plant will continue to offer integral solutions to industries specialized in the use of composite materials such as: wind, nautical, automotive and infrastructure, among others. Thanks to its strategic location, it will be possible to efficiently meet demand from the United States to Chile.
Jose Ángel Ramos, PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of the Basque Country in Spain, currently works as a Research and Development Specialist at Andercol and is in charge of the development of the gelcoats portfolio. Jose Angel says the new products are in line with global megatrends in sustainability for high-performance coatings.
It also indicates that "in accordance with the higher purpose of the Orbis Group, we work to develop a portfolio that allows improving the habitat by providing access to innovative and sustainable solutions."
These developments comply with international environmental legislation in maximum content of volatile organic compounds, which will allow us to reach a market as demanding as the North American.
The new products will be focused on the construction sector, for the production of sanitary ware and synthetic marble. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2018 at the regional level.
