United States. At the 2018 American Coatings Show, Orion Engineered Carbons presented two key grades of Carbon Black Specialty that give formulators dispersibility, stability and flexibility: Color Black OE 430 W and Special Black 40 Powder.
Color Black OE 430 W, formerly known as XPB 430, is a stirring preparation for high waterjet emission coatings. The first of Orion's new line of easy-to-disperse preparations, it offers the highest levels of degrees of darkness and very strong bluish hues for durable, high-quality base coatings.
Ideal for OEM and finishing applications, as well as industrial coatings and premium plastics, this pigment is designed for easy dispersion under normal coating mixing conditions. It can be dispersed directly in water and develops final colorimetric properties in minutes without further grinding or additional moisturizing additives.
"The dispersive additives and carbon black powder that make up Color Black OE 430 W are optimized to ensure complete dispersion and maximize the degree of darkness," said Dr. Jennifer Kauffman, Orion Marketing Manager, Coatings, Americas Region.
Special Black 40 Powder is a carbon black for industrial coatings and medium to high jet dyeing applications. Proven utilitarian grade, it works on all coating formulations, solvent-based, water-based, high in solids and powder coatings, providing formulators with flexibility, dispersibility and stability in industrial applications.
