Mexico. The global surface treatment business unit of BASF's Coatings division, which operates under the Chemetall brand, has opened a new state-of-the-art laboratory in its 38,700-square-foot manufacturing facility and offices in Queretaro.
This new facility joins a global network of technical laboratories for direct customer support and continuous innovation, utilizing advanced process techniques with highly trained, dedicated and experienced personnel. This new laboratory will facilitate state-of-the-art simulation and product development, and further strengthen Chemetall's position within the surface treatment sector.
"It is of the utmost importance to be close to our valued customers and effectively meet their needs," said Ernesto Osorno, CEO of Chemetall Mexicana. "Our response time to customers in the region will benefit from localized value-added services."
New laboratory capabilities include analytical, application and corrosion services. The analytical laboratory will offer customer support, solution and surface analysis, manufacturing QC support, refrigerant management for metalworking, inductively coupled plasma (ICP), ion chromatography (IC), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Niton X-ray fluorescence, auto-titrator and microtap.
An application services laboratory will provide process simulations using spray washers, immersion tanks, and paint booth processes. The corrosion laboratory will offer aerosol salt, paint and film testing, cyclic testing and moisture testing.
