Argentina. In order to multiply its capacity in the grinding and crushing aspects, the paint manufacturer Sinteplast made an investment of US$2 million in its local factory located in Córdoba.
In the facilities on the way to Alta Gracia, of 5,800 square meters covered, the paint company grinds calcium carbonate, one of its main inputs, with which they supply the entire country and export to their factories in Bolivia and Uruguay.
The investment involved the incorporation of a state-of-the-art mill, which began full operation in February. Subsequently, the old mill was launched, refunctionalized, which adds to the production. Sinteplast bought, in 2005, the Cremar factory, and this machinery was used to paint lime, a product that was discontinued.
With these additions, 1,200 tons of carbonate can be ground per month and per shift. In addition, the place was conditioned to carry out a fine grinding and obtain a product that today is purchased from third parties and even imported.
"We want to promote cementitious construction," said Federico Rodríguez, the family's third generation and manager of the Córdoba plant. The company is part of two global networks of paint shops that invest in new developments and has its own laboratory in its industrial center in Ezeiza (Buenos Aires), from where innovative products come out permanently.
Thus, the company, which has almost 60 years of experience, currently has about 20 different product lines and more than four thousand items.
In Cordoba, lines of floors, cementitious and powdered products are made, such as enduido or an anti-humidity coating. "The intention is to advance in the powder line, aimed at construction, because it is the most advanced," said Claudio Rodríguez, one of the sons of the founder of the company.
For this business area, a new packaging machine is being manufactured, which will come into operation in a short time.
On the other hand, in the coming months an investment of half a million dollars will be made to improve the energy supply (own generator).
In 2016, the firm's activity grew nine percent in Argentina (with a market that fell by the same proportion) and, in 2017, it advanced 16 percent, compared to the average 10 percent. Today it has a domestic market share of about 28 percent and employs 680 people across the country.
