AkzoNobel confirms that its separation from Specialty Chemicals, including the return of the vast majority of net income to shareholders, is still ongoing for April 2018 and is not affected by these discussions.
Axalta said: "Axalta confirmed that it is in discussions with AkzoNobel about a potential merger of transactions between Axalta and Akzo's Paints & Coatings. Axalta will conduct such transaction only if its Board of Directors determines that it is in Axalta's best interest to do so. There can be no guarantees that a definitive agreement will be reached between the parties or on what terms."
