United States. Axalta Coating Systems restarted production at its Houston powder coating manufacturing facility on Friday, September 1.
Since the beginning of the storm, the company explained that it maintained direct contact by phone, email and an emergency portal with all personnel living in the area affected by Hurricane Harvey and was quickly able to account for them and ensure that everyone was safe. Axalta has established a relief fund that includes donations from other employees across the country to provide financial support to affected employees.
"The effects of the storm will have a lasting impact on the lives of our employees and millions of others," said Axalta President and CEO Charlie Shaver. "We are grateful that we have been able to stay in touch with our colleagues during the storm and that our more than 200 area-based employees are safe. We are committed to standing by the side to help them overcome the effects of the storm on their daily lives."
Shipments of powder coating products to customers have resumed to allow customers to maintain their own operations and reduce the economic effects of the storm in the rest of the country.
