International. Clariant AG recently announced progress towards satisfying the regulatory approval condition for the closing of its peer merger with Huntsman Corporation.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which reviews the antitrust implications of certain business combinations, sent a second request for information to parties related to only two products: sodium isethionate, used in personal care products such as soap and shampoo, and polyetheramines, a product used in certain construction applications and additives/paints and inks.
These products accounted for less than $24 million in the total revenue of each of the two U.S. companies in 2016, and Clariant is confident that the parties will be able to satisfy any FTC concerns on a timeline consistent with the merger, which they continue to expect to close around the end of the year.
Clariant further explained that the regulatory approval process continues to advance in other jurisdictions and that they continue to advance in this timeline.
