International. Hempel opened a new factory in Mina Abdullah in Kuwait. Built according to ISO 9000 quality management guidelines, the new factory will meet the growing demand for Hempel coatings in the region.
The new factory is the latest addition to its global supply chain. In 2016, Hempel added more than 28 million liters to its annual production capacity with investments in Russia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
With a capacity 40 percent higher than Hempel's existing production facility in Safat, Kuwait, the new factory at Mina Abdullah will help meet the growing demand for Hempel coatings in Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It will be fully operational by September 2017. Hempel's existing factory in Safat will close later in the year.
CEO Henrik Andersen commented: "We celebrate an important milestone in Kuwait. Our customers are increasingly looking for green building solutions, and we are proud to be able to provide them through a production facility designed to reduce the environmental impact of coating production."
