Latin America. The marketing value of paints and varnishes among the countries of Central America rose by US$90 million, a market that is currently being led by Nicaragua, registering a growth in imports with US$21 million.
This was revealed by a study conducted by the Business Intelligence Area of CentralAmericaData, which covers the period between January 2014 and September 2016. Between this period of time, the growth of trade in paints and varnishes among the nations of this region has had an average growth of 10%, with 2015 as the year with the highest growth, with 18% compared to the same period of 2014.
As for the item of intraregional exports by country, until September 2016, Costa Rica is the largest exporter of this type of products in Central America, with a value of US$44 million, followed by El Salvador, with US$22 million; Guatemala, with US$21 million; Honduras with US$3 million, while Nicaragua and Panama recorded exports of less than US$1 million.
Regarding who is the leading intraregional importer of paints and coatings, this position is currently held by Nicaragua with a value of US $21.4 million of which US$9.3 million was purchased from Guatemala, US$9 million from Costa Rica, US$2.6 million from El Salvador and US$0.5 million from Honduras.
