Hempel has been the company that has provided its ballast tank coating to Muehlhan Group, a marine coating application company . The casing was used to coat the ballast tanks on the semi-submersible crane vessel Saipem 7000.
Saipem offers advanced drilling and pipeline laying services for the oil and gas industry. Your Saipem 7000 semi-submersible crane vessel has the ability to handle the full scope of offshore construction projects, from pipeline laying to heavy lifting. The ship's state-of-the-art design includes a rapid ballast system, comprised of 40 ballast tanks and 14 fast ballast tanks.
When the vessel went out of service for routine maintenance in December 2015, the Muehlhan Group was contracted to coat the ballast tanks. The coupling schedule was tight and winter temperatures were low, so the company chose Hempadur's PSPC-approved Ballast Tank Lining, Quattro XO.
This product provided very short coating intervals, even at temperatures as low as -10 ° C. It allowed Muehlhan to cover 80,000 m² in just 110 days.
Following the success of the project, Muehlhan has chosen Hempel coatings for other work on the vessel, including the coating of another 55,000 m² on the ballast tanks and stain repairs on the ship's cranes.
