AkzoNobel revealed that it has officially opened its €11 million powder coatings plant in Chengdu, western China.
The new headquarters will help meet the growing demand in the region and offer customers a full range of powdered products for the automotive, construction, furniture and IT industries.
The company now operates six powder coating sites in the China region, while a seventh – the world's largest powder coating plant – is being built in Changzhou and will open in October this year. Currently, AkzoNobel has more than 30 production sites in total throughout China.
"The opening of our production headquarters in Chengdu will strengthen our position as a world leader and China's largest powder coating supplier," said Conrad Keijzer, AkzoNobel Executive Committee member responsible for Performance Coatings. "It will allow us to take advantage of the strong growth we see in China's western provinces, driving our momentum of organic growth."
