Evonik announced that it was included for the first time in the prestigious "Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index (DJSI)" and also in the "DJSI Europe". The specialty chemicals company received particularly high ratings on all environmental criteria.
Thomas Wessel, member of the executive committee responsible for sustainability at Evonik said: "Being included in the European and global DJSI indices is an important milestone for us. We are delighted with this recognition of Evonik's commitment to sustainability. It is confirmed that contributions to sustainability and economic success work together. Sustainability is increasingly driving innovation and profitable growth."
In addition to financial criteria, investors now consider ecological and social factors before making their decisions. They are guided by major sustainability indices, such as the DJSI. Every year, around 2,500 companies from all over the world are invited to participate. In each sector, the best among the participants are included in the DJSI. The assessment is carried out by the Swiss Rating Agency RobecoSAM.
