Evonik Industries revealed that it has begun construction work on a new plant to produce polyamide 12 (PA12) powders, which will be located in Marl, Germany.
With the new Marl plant, Evonik expects to increase the production capacity of its Vestosint 12 polyamide powders by 50%. The investment made, in millions of euros, is in the double digit average. The new plant is forecast to be ready by the end of 2017.
Dr. Ralph Sven Kaufmann, Chief Operating Officer of Evonik, said, "Organic growth is the cornerstone of our long-term growth strategy, and that is why we are continuously investing in new capabilities and innovative products. With the investment in Marl we are also further consolidating our leading position as a supplier of high-performance polymers based on polyamide 12."
Dr. Noel Rettig, Chairman of the Board of Management of Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH, commented: "Our polyamide 12 powders are aimed at highly attractive markets, such as the coatings industry and additive manufacturing, where we see great growth potential.
