Paint brand PPG Paints unveiled its 2017 color: "Verbena Violet" (PPG1169-5), a changing purple with a chameleon-like presence.
"Violeta Verbena is both nostalgic and modern. It's substantial in a world that can sometimes seem so temporary, luxurious in a harsh world that needs pampering, and introspective and private in an invasive world," said Dee Schlotter, director of color marketing, PPG. Purple was unanimously chosen as the 2017 color of the year by PPG's global color experts for its distinctive qualities. We're seeing this violet tone on the track in fashion, and in textiles for the commercial and residential sectors."
Schlotter cited a new era of the consumer mindset as part of the reason why the PPG Paints brand has selected Verbena Violet as the color of 2017. These new attitudes challenge conventional and mixed ideas of gender, relationships, careers, workplaces and living spaces.
"Color is a modern choice for interiors and furniture, however, it is elegant enough to be incorporated into traditional designs. Verbena Violet is quite colorful to make a statement, but it can also be considered neutral, with its shades of gray," Schlotter said.
