Chemours has announced that it will locate its world headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.
Chemours began evaluating headquarters placement options more than 6 months ago with Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania all under active consideration. The company followed an evaluation process against a number of criteria, including employee quality of life, access to a great source of talent, and a positive long-term financial case for the company.
"While we like to think of ourselves as a 200-year start-up company, we have been an independent, publicly traded company for just a little over a year," said President and CEO Mark Vergnano. "We have achieved a good deal in a short period of time, putting our feet on Chemours and making a number of decisions that ensure a strong and prosperous future. We have considered a number of locations for our global headquarters, but in the end it all came down to the local giving the most financial sense, offering our current workforce the right mix of services and amenities, and allowing us to attract great talent. Wilmington is that place, and we look forward to being a part of its future growth."
Recent changes to the state's corporate tax structure brought about by the Delaware Competency Act, which was passed earlier this year with unanimous support, both parties in the Delaware legislature, were key components of Chemours' decision.
