The National Center for Thermal Projection (Cenaprot) was recently inaugurated, a National Laboratory housed in Cinvestav – Querétaro in collaboration with Ciateq, which has infrastructure and equipment for scientific development and technological innovation in the development of thermal projection coatings.
The project was born in 2014 as part of the call for national laboratory programs issued by CONACyT, that same year.
The Cenaprot National Laboratory has state-of-the-art infrastructure of international level aimed at scientific research, technological development related to thermal projection, training of specialized human talent as well as the offer of services and advice to the industrial, scientific and academic sectors. CENAPROT has the capacity to support basic research and technological development projects for the regional aeronautics, automotive and power generation industries, among others.
Thermal projection has a large number of technological variants that translate into different processes and therefore a wide variety of applications so it has been consolidated worldwide as a useful, versatile technology, with economic advantages and easy handling. With this type of thermal coating technologies, coatings of various materials used in different industrial applications can be obtained.
Among the processing and diagnostic techniques installed by Cenaprot are technologies of high technological level such as:
- High-speed coatings by oxygen-fuel combustion (HVOF).
- Atmospheric plasma projection (APS) technologies.
- Tecnar ACCURA SPRAY Thermal Projection Process Monitoring System.
- ReliaCoat ICP In-Situ Coating Monitoring System.
