A new report documents the overall downward trends in emissions to the atmosphere by the paints and coatings industry that have been derived from the R&D industry, market demand, recent regulatory developments, and ongoing market trends towards water-based coatings, powder coatings, ultraviolet curing coatings, and other processes, as well as low-emission coating products.
The report analyzes toxic emissions inventory (TRI) air emissions from across the coatings manufacturing industry, with special attention to Clean Air Act airborne toxicants and other chemicals of particular interest.
The report presents trends in air emissions (1990-2014) over 25 years and identifies chemicals and facilities that contribute to the increased risk of weighted toxicity. TRI data has been used for this analysis for several reasons, most importantly, because these data are available annually, allowing for 25-year time series analysis.
The new report includes the following achievements of the paints and coatings industry:
- 81% reduction in the release of toxic emissions into the TRI air since 1990, and 94% reduction in the risk of toxicity.
- 82% reduction in TRI airborne toxics since 1990, and 94% reduction in toxicity risk.
- 92% reduction in toxic substances from the TRI urban air since 1990, and 92% reduction in the risk of toxicity.
- 90% reduction in toxic metals in tri air since 1990, and 94% reduction in toxicity risk.- Publicidad -
