Mexico.
Clariant inaugurated its new production plant for water-based pigment preparations in Mexico. The new plant located in Santa Clara doubles Clariant Mexico's annual production capacity for water-based pigment preparations and enhances its ability to serve customers throughout North America and The Americas.
Pigment preparations are aqueous dispersions based on pigments. Compared to powdered pigments, pigment preparations offer faster and cheaper production, and better dispersion capacity. In addition, they provide greater flexibility through the possibility of tailor-made solutions.
Increasing capacity for water-based pigment preparations will allow Clariant to enhance its support to regions in current and emerging market segments including decorative coatings, non-impact and flexographic printing, industrial coatings, and specialties such as home and personal care and stationery.
Clariant began production at the new Santa Clara plant in the second quarter of 2016. To complement this increase in capacity, Clariant also plans to commission a new solvent-based pigment preparation plant at the same site in the fourth quarter of 2016. This will produce high-demand milling products for the U.S. specialty market.
