Sika continues to expand its presence in Latin America with the opening of a new mortar factory that began operating in Ecuador, and with a new subsidiary that has been established in Nicaragua.
These two growth initiatives seek to harness the additional potential in Latin America and mark the course for the successful implementation of the 2018 strategy.
The new mortar factory in Duran, near Guayaquil, includes a packaging and logistics unit, in addition to production lines that will expand the product range in the fast-growing mortar segment. The production plant is Sika's second in Ecuador. The increase in production capacity will allow Sika to expand its market share and continue to take advantage of the potential offered by Ecuador's construction sector.
Sika has established a new subsidiary in the Nicaraguan capital of Managua to distribute its own products and further increase its share of the country's construction market. Sika products have been marketed through distributors in the country since 1998 and are an established brand.
