BASF will strengthen its local production capacity for water-based and solvent-based coatings in Thailand by building a new production facility at its headquarters in Bangpoo.
The new production facility complements the facilities of the New ASEAN Coatings Technical Competence Center, which was opened in September 2015 and includes a laboratory for product development, performance testing, color design, as well as a small batch production unit. The expansion will better serve strong demand from the automotive industry.
In 2015, the total annual car production in ASEAN was 3.8 million units (source: LMC automotive April 2016). Thailand is the center of the region and represents the largest coatings market within ASEAN, followed by Indonesia and Malaysia.
AkzoNobel is helping workshops more efficiently with a new web color app, MIXIT, which can be accessed in www.MIXITcloud.com. It's a quick and easy way for workshops to find the color they want, using a search function that fits all possible keywords, in any language, and even includes suggestions. It is the ideal tool for customers using any of AkzoNobel's main vehicle repainting brands, including Sikkens, Lesonal, Wanda, Sikkens Autocoat BT and T-TECH.
