Axalta Coating Systems officially opened its newly expanded European Technology Centre (ETC) in Wuppertal, Germany. The center will be home to the company's liquid coating research facilities in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
The ETC will comprise facilities housing the latest coatings research team. The entire campus encompasses 15,000 square meters of laboratory, formulation and application capacities, an outdoor and corrosion service, pilot-scale and full-scale facilities, a demonstration center for customers, as well as offices.
Axalta said it has taken a strategic approach to expanding and enhancing its global coatings research and development capabilities, with the recent announcements of new technology centers to be built in North America and Asia Pacific.
The company is building a Global Innovation Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, which will be the center of its technology network worldwide, and a new technology center in Shanghai, which will support technology applications throughout the Asia Pacific region. In EMEA, Axalta's powder coating technology cube is in Montbrison, France, on the campus of its powder manufacturing plant.
