Mexico.
Of the fourteen countries that import polyester resins produced by Andercol, Mexico represents about 30% of the Latin American market. Juan Pablo Restrepo, commercial manager of the chemical business of the Orbis Group, says that "the annual demand for polyester resins in Latin America is 220,000 tons and, in Mexico alone, 70,000 are distributed. We currently have 2% of the Mexican market and we aspire that in the next five years we will reach 10%."
Construction, clothing and bodybuilder, were the market segments that defined the business to enter this country with their resins.
The numbers continue to increase thanks to the expansion strategy to other geographies. "We have in our sights countries where we want to get meaningful participation. This includes the United States and other latitudes outside the American continent in the future," Restrepo adds.
Segments served:
- Construction segment: manufacturers of polymer concrete parts for the electrical and telecommunications industry; additionally, manufacturers of sanitary parts in loaded systems (sinks, walls and shower floors), aimed at the markets of the United States and Canada.
- Clothing segment: largest button manufacturer in Mexico, marking an important milestone in the business.
- Bodybuilder segment: growth has begun in the segment of auto parts manufacturers.
Andercol currently has seven plants in the region and exports to 24 countries. "The company has understood the megatrends in raw materials, and is preparing to meet these demands and make possible the solutions that generate development in various industries," says Rodolfo Bayona, manager of the chemical business of the Orbis Group.
