Through a statement published on February 11, the paint manufacturer, AkzoNobel, confirmed that it is in talks with the supplier of raw materials BASF about a potential purchase of the businesses of the BASF Industrial Coatings area.
"AkzoNobel's strategy to drive operational excellence and organic growth includes the possibility of continuing as a value generator, confirming further acquisitions," the company said in a statement posted on its official global site.
The company said it will not be available to provide further details throughout this stage.
In the event of an agreement, this would be one of the most important in the paints and coatings sector in the world and would mean a strong position of AkzoNobel within the market, already being one of the largest companies in the world.
