International.
Global coatings supplier Hempel announced the sale of Blome International, a U.S. manufacturer of corrosion control products. Hempel, based in Denmark, acquired Blome International in 2012 in order to obtain the technologies and coatings critical to its business, including the products that are currently part of Hempel's Versiline range of high-performance coatings for aggressive industrial environments.
Hempel has integrated these coatings into its global product assortment, especially within its train, oil and gas, and energy segments. Hempel is now getting rid of its other brand, Blome International, while maintaining the Versiline coatings line.
For its part, Blome International will be relaunched as an independent company, under the direction of Andy Bernard, former vice president of Blome International. The new configuration allows Blome International to focus on its core business of high-performance corrosion control products within its key segments of energy, pulp and paper, and chemical production.
Under the terms of the transaction, there will be a six-month transition period. By mutual understanding, the terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.
