International. Arkema had an option, until early 2016, to increase its stake in Taixing Sunke Chemicals, a production joint venture that owns and operates butyl acid and acrylate production units in Taixing, China, and thus access an additional capacity of 160,000 tons per year of acrylic acid.
Because the financial conditions of the option no longer reflect the current market conditions for acrylics in China, Arkema has decided not to exercise this option.
Therefore, Arkema maintains its initial rights to acrylic acid capabilities thus supporting the development of its subsequent acrylic activities in Asia and the growth of its customers in the region.
In line with its strategy to further strengthen its high-performance materials segment, the Group could allocate some of the unused funds to make other acquisitions.
