United States. Wacker Chemie has officially started a new Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (VAE) dispersion reactor at its Calvert City headquarters in Kentucky.
With the expansion of its capabilities, Wacker is meeting the global demand for its dispersals and dispersible powders, which is growing amid those global trends such as urbanization, renovation and environmental consideration.
The company reported that it has invested around €50 million in the capacity and infrastructure of the headquarters. "Our production complex in Calvert City is the largest of its kind outside europe, supporting our successful growth strategy focused on the global customer," explained Rudolf Staudigl, CEO of Wacker Chemie AG. "The demand for our high-quality VAE products continues to increase, especially for low-emission and eco-friendly formulated products. The additional capacity allows us to continue to reliably meet the needs of our customers in the coming years, consolidating our leading position in the global market," said Staudigl.
Wacker has been producing dispersions and dispersible polymer powders in Calvert City since 1998. The new reactor in Calvert City has an annual capacity of 85,000 metric tons.
