International. A report revealed by PPG Industries ensures that vehicle manufacturers continue to sell mostly units in conservative colors such as white, black, gray and silver.
The coatings company reported that according to annual data on the popularity of colors for cars 2015 found that 60% of consumers point out that color is an important factor when making the decision to acquire one.
However, about 75% of automakers said they still sell mostly vehicles in conservative colors. According to PPG's global manufacturing data, white was the most popular color reaching 35% preference, followed by silver which reached 12%.
In a statement, PPG said the research showed that in North America, white was the most popular color, followed by black, gray, silver, red and blue; while in Europe, white also led the first place, followed by black, grey, silver and blue.
The study also found that metallic colors are the most popular among men, while women prefer solid, single-color, glossy, non-metallic finishes with colorful flash effects.
