International. Wacker Chemie AG published its new Sustainability Report from 2013 to 2014. The facts and figures contained in the report underline that companies have continued to make progress in many areas that are of importance for sustainable business management.
For example, the company has reduced specific energy consumption in polysilicon production by 29%
In the report, Wacker published its environmental targets, figures on indirect energy consumption and information on the relationship between water demand and freshwater availability. The company's largest headquarters, in Burghausen, Germany, has substantially reduced its emissions to water, while the silicon metal production plant in Norway reduced its dust emissions by more than 30%.
The Bavarian government honoured Wacker with its Energy Award for its reduction of its specific energy consumption in polysilicon manufacturing by 29 percent.
