International. Clariant unveiled its new developments based on renewable sources for wood cladding, which protect against surface damage and meet the demand for more sustainable coating systems.
Ceridust 8090 TP and the latest innovation Ceridust 8091 TP are polysaccharide solutions from renewable sources that do not conflict with food production. These solutions received Clariant's EcoTain seal, which identifies the company's leading products and solutions that offer sustainability benefits and exceed market standards.
Both Ceridust solutions provide producers with wood coatings that represent a qualitative change in performance with the use of a bio-based additive. In addition, Ceridust offers better performance in terms of scratch resistance and a higher coefficient of friction compared to ordinary waxes. Ceridust solutions are offered with different particle size distributions, in order to provide surface properties ranging from a velvety feel to the natural tactile effect of wood.
Ceridust 8090 TP – the largest particle size (30μm) version of this additive creates a smooth protected and smooth surface, with a pleasant untreated wood feel. The micronized polymer increases the coefficient of friction in combination with excellent scratch resistance performance in water-based formulations.
Ceridust 8091 TP – the smallest particle size (8 μm) version of the micronized polymer based on renewable raw materials combines smoothness with high scratch resistance. Tarnishing efficiency, along with those properties, allows the manufacturer to formulate more sustainable coatings.
