How to waterproof the concrete roof of your home or office quickly and easily.

Ensuring that rains, storms and humidity do not ruin the home is not an "impossible mission". Here are a series of steps to perform the exercise correctly.
"Concrete roofs are much stronger than any other type of structure. But they must have a correct waterproofing so that humidity and rains do not penetrate and considerably damage some or all the environments of a house, "explains Guillermo Ortega, manager of Sui Color.
To achieve this you need a broom, a spatula, a long hair roller, a brush, water, detergent, crack sealant, leveling base and liquid membrane.
First step
Clean the entire roof. It is important that it is completely clean and free of grease stains, dust and fungi to be able to do the job well. You should take out all kinds of garbage, sharp objects, oil or grease spills, solvent stains (especially near the chimney if you have it) and soil evidencing evaporated water. The key is that the waterproofing needs a clean surface to adhere to in addition to having to be level, and then not accumulate water.
It is also important to verify that there are no cracks. When all this has been checked, completely clean the entire surface of the roof with the help of a broom, water and detergent to remove everything accumulated. Then, rinse as many times as necessary and let the entire surface dry completely.
Second step
Once you have all the roof clean, you should repair, if any, all cracks with a sealant. The way to do this is to open them in a V-shape with a spatula and then place the sealant.
Allow to dry for 12 hours and apply with a brush the undiluted liquid membrane only on the crack sealant that was previously placed to complete the process. Let dry for 12 hours. Verify existing shelling and unevenness. How is it done? With the help of the spatula, all the shelled concrete is removed and in case of flooding, the surface is leveled by filling with a layer of leveling base.
Then, it is allowed to dry and it is verified that water no longer accumulates, throwing water just to check that it does not form puddles. Finally, the surface is cleaned of dust residues or other debris.
Third step
When the roof is clean and free of cracks, place with a roller a uniform layer of liquid membrane diluted to 20% water as the first adhesion. It should not be applied in case rain has been forecast. Let dry for 12 hours and do not let more than 24 hours pass to prevent the first one from becoming contaminated.
Last step
With a long hair roller pass the liquid membrane without exerting too much pressure throughout the area so that it is uniform throughout the surface. Once the first layer dries, apply a second layer following the same advice. Do not leave aside weak points, such as drains and telephone or television installations. Finally, with the help of a brush, reinforce the contours with one more layer of waterproofing.
Now it does. The roof will be ready to receive all kinds of rain and storms. But the interior of your house or apartment will not find out.
