Latin America. The sixth version of the live virtual course on chemical additives for paints and coatings will be held on Saturday, November 18 and 25.
The company Química Internacional, in charge of technology in industrial chemical processes, is the one that has arranged to train participants in the development of information on the chemistry and use of additives in the formulations of coatings and paints.
In a first introductory module, we will talk about the criteria of a paint formulator to select additives.
Subsequently, basic concepts such as colloidal chemistry (interfacial phenomena, surface phenomena, cohesion and adhesion, surface tension, contact angle, capillarity, properties of surfactant solutions), types of repulsion and components of paints and coatings will be addressed.
Chemical additives for paints and coatings, as well as process additives (defoamers and deaerations, dispersants and wetting), rheology additives and reaction kinetics will then be discussed.
In charge will be the engineer Hermes Alfaro, a chemistry graduate from the Universidad de los Andes (Venezuela), a master's degree in Process Engineering, PhD in Chemical Engineering, with 35 years of experience in the industry as a formulating chemist at Pinturas Internacional (Venezuela), Dupont/Axalta Coatings (Venezuela/USA) and Cykron (Peru).
The cost is 45 US dollars, which includes PDF presentation, digital certificate and access to the recorded course.
