Argentina. Holcim Argentina, a sustainable solutions company for construction, announced the signing of the commitment to acquire 51% of the share package of Quitam S.A., the producer of Quimexur paints and liquid membranes.
This operation is aligned with the strategy of the Holcim Group focused on expanding its portfolio with products and services that provide integral solutions for construction.
In this way, Holcim will supply Quimexu products to the market, through its retail network, focused on specialized care and high-tech products.
The operation includes the integration of a paint and coatings factory with an installed capacity of 40 million liters per year. In this way, Holcim customers will be able to obtain new paint products and add additional waterproofing solutions to the GacoFlex solution range.
As part of this new stage of the company, Alberto Ragazzini, CEO of Quitam S.A., said: "We are very excited to start this stage with a world leader."
"Holcim will enhance our incessant work and the creativity necessary to provide more and better products that protect and beautify the human habitat, with that mission QUIMEXUR was born 40 years ago and today, with this step, we deepen that path," added Ragazzini.
Quimexur has a portfolio of interior and exterior paints, texture coatings, floor and pool paint, aerosols, construction additives, wood coatings, waterproofing and sealants, and a line of products formulated for industrial use according to the standard required by each industry.
For his part, the CEO of Holcim in Argentina, Christian Dedeu, explained that "this is a business opportunity strongly aligned with Holcim's growth strategy in Argentina, allowing us to expand our portfolio of solutions and products for construction, taking advantage of our distributor channel and the more than 450 points of sale of our Disensa network".
Regarding the global strategy, Dedeu added that "we are consistent with our vision of being the global leader in innovative and sustainable solutions for construction. Today we celebrate these new products that we begin offering across the country."
"This agreement helps us consolidate our 2025 strategy with a focus on comprehensive solutions to reinforce our leadership and continue to support the development of the construction sector," he concluded.
Currently, the paints and membranes market represents 11% of the construction sector. The Argentine market has enormous potential compared to others in the region. While in Argentina the average per capita consumption is 4 liters of paint per year, Brazil has an average of 6; Spain, 10; and U.S. 14.
