Latin America. The cover of the first issue of 2023 addresses the new reality of the paint sector, marked by ecological and sustainable coatings.
The analysis of Acopinturas, sectoral chapter of Acoplásticos, introduces this edition that includes studies carried out by companies to restructure their formulations, processes and production plants, and direct research areas in environmentally friendly, biobased and ecological product lines.
This is how bio-based coatings appear, an innovative solution detailed by the Technical Sales Representative of Covestro's Coatings Adhesives & Specialties division, Joshua Mauricio Ocampo. It points out the advantages of polyisocyanates, whose percentage of carbon can be corroborated directly from the finished product by quantitative analytical methods.
For his part, the Technical Service Rep at First Quality Chemicals, Oliver Peña, analyzes the components of a biodegradable and sustainable alternative. "In addition to an additive with a very attractive rheological modification, a solution is required that allows improvements to be achieved during film formation," he says.
On the other hand, the corrosion expert, Juan Manuel Álvarez, describes the different variables to which the material of the structures will be exposed.
Next, engineer Abel de la Cruz Pérez focuses on introducing one of the missing tools for the implementation of a successful Maintenance Program of the Asset Corrosion Protection System: the criticality analysis of the assets.
Later, Claudio Fazzone undertakes the first of a series of conversations with industry leaders to investigate aspects related to global strategies of each company in the region. On this occasion, the turn corresponds to the president of Sherwin Williams for Latin America, Alberto Benavidez.
This interview precedes the profile of our professional of the month for this edition: Flor de María G. Mariblanca, the first woman to occupy the Direction of Anafapyt.
