United States. As Venator increases its focus on sustainability across its operations, this strategic project will enable the company to deliver data on the carbon footprint of its products to its customers and accelerate its sustainability ambitions.
Venator, a manufacturer and marketer of chemicals including pigments and additives, announces that it is working with Atos, a leader in digital transformation, to measure the carbon footprint of its products.
Atos will help Venator gather key insights from its existing data that will enable the enterprise-wide deployment of a specialized digital product carbon footprint (PCF) tool originally developed by BASF.
Rob Portsmouth, Venator's Senior Vice President of Sustainability, said: "We are acutely aware that what we do today will have an impact on tomorrow's world. Working sustainably is fundamental to our business."
"We are proud of our progress, but we know we can go further. Working with Atos to automate the calculation of the carbon footprint of our products is a big step forward."
"It will help Venator achieve our ambitions by identifying the improvements needed to make our business and product portfolio even more sustainable. Providing data on the product's carbon footprint will also help our customers make more informed decisions," Portsmouth added.
Stuart Lemmon, Head of Net Zero Transformation Practice at Atos, said: "Our collaboration has shown that Venator is in a very good position to build an automated PCF with its excellent database and ERP processes."
"With this pilot project, Venator will be able to have a clear, transparent and comparable PCF for products in scope. They will also be able to gain valuable insights into internal and external supply chain dependencies, supported by graphical visualization, that can help them develop sustainability commitments that span the entire supply chain," said Lemmon.
