Natural or synthetic Liquid obtained from the distillation of pine resin, this resin is obtained from standing trees or from the compression of stumps (part of the trunk of a tree that is attached to the root when it is cut by the foot). The oil can be colorless or amber in color, usually used as a moisturizer, flavoring.
There is also a synthetic pine oil composed of a mixture of terpene alcohols (organic hydrocarbons), produced from vegetable turpentine. It comes in the form of a colorless liquid, or light amber color, characteristic smell of pine. Miscible with alcohol. Little toxic. It is a combustible liquid.
It fulfills functions as deodorant, disinfectant, penetrant. Useful in the detergent, insecticide, fungicide, ink and perfume industries. Agricultural and veterinary disinfectants. Wetting agent, condom in textile and paper industry. Flavoring in vinyl paints.
