United States. A coating to protect the paint of a car that has the ability to self-repair was developed by the American company Feynlab, according to a statement from the car production company Panoz, which has several models with the novel coverage.
Feynlab Self-Heal Plus is a semi-permanent, self-healing ceramic and nanotechnology coating that helps protect automotive paint finishes from damage caused by ultraviolet light, oxidation, acid rain, and other environmental conditions that can lead to paint finish degradation.
The coating has the ability to self-heal from small surface imperfections such as scratches and swirling marks. Feynlab describes the technology as nano-sized magnets attached to the end of Feynlab's durable ceramic chains to create a "memory polymer." When separated, for example, by a scratch, the memory polymer returns to its place when exposed to heat. Therefore, slight scratches and surface markings on a vehicle treated with Feynlab Self-Heal Plus can be restored to its original shine by simply parking the vehicle in the sun in the afternoon or giving a quick pass to the affected area with a hair dryer.
