United States. PPG revealed it has opened a nearly $3 million expansion for the manufacture of packaging liners at its Oak Creek, Wisconsin, plant. The 3,300-square-foot facility adds capacity for the production of coatings for food cans in order to meet growing demand.
PPG's new generation of food canister liners are designed to help producers and brand owners meet regulatory food contact requirements. The coatings are certified by independent institutes as, in accordance with North American and European regulations
As regulations and market demands change, the Oak Creek facility will now have greater flexibility for producing specialized solutions to meet new requirements.
"This expansion significantly increases our U.S. packaging coating manufacturing capacity, allowing us to meet the growing demand in the industry," said Ken West, PPG's vice president of packaging coatings. "This investment demonstrates PPG's continued commitment to the packaging industry, and strengthens our ability to meet customers' emerging needs for innovative technology solutions."
