Mexico. The manufacturer of paints and coatings, Comex, participated in a Success Story at the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City, where it supplied and applied its fire retardant solutions.
At the beginning of 2011, in order to provide the public with better and more comfortable facilities, in addition to maintaining in optimal conditions the collection of films that it protects, the expansion and renovation of the Cineteca Nacional was contemplated. After the fire in their facilities in March 1982, and in order not to repeat the event, they decided to protect against fire, due to the dimensions of the work, the number of people who can be grouped and the importance of preserving the film heritage.
For that reason, a fire retardant was applied to the six levels of the parking lot to protect structural elements such as columns and steel locks indoors. It should be noted that on the wooden surfaces the fire retardant sealant and varnish system, Flame Retardant 129 and Flame Retardant 130, was applied.
This water-based retardant offers fire resistance of up to three hours and a matte, smooth finish. It also has adherence to alkalic and epoxy primaries and a degree of fire protection that complies with the Standards: ASTM E-84, ASTM C-119, NMX C 307, DIN 4102.
