Dow, a company in the chemical sector, announced the appointment of Fabián Gil as the new President of Dow for Latin America, a position he has been fulfilling at the beginning of January. The executive held the position of Commercial Vice President of Dow's High Performance Plastics business for Latin America for the past 4 years and will continue to reside in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Fabian replaces Pedro Suarez, who held the role for 8 years and will assume the presidency of Dow UNITED States.
Fabian will lead 25 manufacturing units, 16 research centers and 12 Dow offices in the region that brings together 5400 employees. The executive will be responsible for leading and implementing the regional strategy by working closely with businesses, functions and operations, to meet commitments to the region.
"Latin America is full of opportunities for the growth of businesses and people. Our focus is to boost this growth through innovation and close collaboration with our customers in promising markets such as food, energy, infrastructure and consumer markets," says Fabián Gil.
Under Pedro Suarez's management between 2007 and 2015, Dow's regional turnover went from $6.1 billion to $7.9 billion at the end of 2014. Fabián Gil joined Dow in 1992 as a sales representative for Dow AgroSciences.
