International. AkzoNobel has started operations at a new packaging ink facility at its headquarters in Songjiang, China. The plant – located at the largest headquarters of the packaging coatings company in the world – will produce used inks for beverage packaging and packaging.
"This new facility will establish AkzoNobel as a local ink supplier in China and strengthen our position in the local packaging market," said Chen Bin, AkzoNobel's metal coatings business director in Asia. "It also means that we now have the local production of the complete system of external coatings."
AB Ghosh, General Manager of AkzoNobel's Metal Coatings Business, added: "We are very pleased to have started local ink production in Songjiang It will help us better serve customers in what is one of our most important markets."
Last year, AkzoNobel doubled the capacity of its Songjiang headquarters, which now employs about 300 people and also houses the company's largest research and development center in China.
