International. The Carlyle Group confirmed that the acquisition of DuPont's paints business has been completed, a transaction that was given for a figure of US $ 4,900 million.
DuPont had announced last August, when the deal was confirmed, that it wanted to focus on more profitable and faster-growing businesses, such as agriculture and advanced materials. The coatings business sold supplied products for automakers, trucks, and machine shops.
The division acquired by Carlyle has about 11,000 employees worldwide and has a turnover of about $4 billion. The company plans to expand its operations in Brazil and China.
Carlyle also confirmed that the division will be renamed Axalta Coating Systems, a global supplier to the industrial and transportation sectors.
