Latin America. Wacker Chemie AG announced the opening of a new technical center in Mexico City and the expansion of the existing one in São Paulo (Brazil), which seeks to consolidate its presence in both regions.
In these two locations, the German company will inaugurate and expand, respectively, the group's international training center called Wacker Academy. Both projects, which had an investment of 1.2 million euros, will come into operation during the first quarter of 2013.
"Central and South America are two key future markets for Wacker. Our sales in these regions have grown by an annual average of 15% or in the last five years. The increasing demand for cutting-edge, high-quality solutions allows us to anticipate that our silicone and polymer business will continue to grow in the coming years. We respond to the growing demand of our customers by enhancing our local services," commented Rudolf Staudigl, President and CEO of Wacker Chemie AG.
The expansion in Brazil focuses on laboratories for dispersible polymeric powders that are used, for example, in the formulations of premixed dry mortars for concrete applications, adhesives for tiles or waterproof mortars. The new center in Mexico will also focus its activities on polymer binders.
