Iran. Researchers at Tehran University were successful in producing Ni-Co/SiC nanostructured coatings, which feature increased adhesive strength and abrasion resistance through the use of gradually changing structures.
Ni-Co/SiC nanostructured coatings have found many applications in various industries due to their hardness and high abrasion resistance. Studies show that the reduction in particle size significantly decreases the strength of the coating adhesive, although it extremely increases the toughness, strength and abrasion resistance. The potential solution to improve the adhesion of coatings is to use gradually changing structures.
In the research, the scientists observed that the use of gradually changing structures improve the adhesive strength and abrasion resistance of coatings, especially at high abrasive loads, compared to homogeneous coatings.
