International. AkzoNobel reported a 6% increase in its earnings for the third quarter of 2012 compared to the same period a year earlier.
The company justifies the increase by favorable exchange rate effects and price actions. Ebitda for this period was 7%, for 540 million euros.
Decorative paintings represented profits of 1,460 million euros. Value that did not generate notable changes in the comparative period. AkzoNobel says difficult market conditions in Europe and Latin America were offset by strong revenue and volume growth in China and North Asia.
In high-performance coatings, profits grew by 13% to €1.47 billion, driven by acquisitions in industrial coatings and strong demand for protective coatings.
Finally, in the area of chemical specialties, the multinational increased its figures by 3% to 1,390 million euros. Here EBITDA fell by 5% impacted by low volumes and the margin of weakness in functional chemicals.
